Thus far we’ve seen designers take unexpected twists with prints, whether it be done by unapologetically layering them one on top of the other or experimenting with pieces not usually known to don prints. This season’s designers have thrown away the ideology of the pinstriped and/or plaid shirt and have instead taken it upon themselves to show men that prints can be used as a statement piece for any style or occasion.
Say farewell to the days of skinny jeans and tight button-up shirts and say hello to loose sophistication. For too long has it been embedded in our minds that loose fitting clothes cannot be sophisticated. This season’s designers are showing us how to loosen up and relax yet remain sleek with the use of lustrous shine, cuts, colour and accessories.
For the past few years crisp modern minimalism has dominated the runways, but the world’s classic vintage chaps can rejoice to the news of the return to classic vintage grandeur. Whether you’re channeling Victorian sophistication or your inner Don Draper, vintage styles dominated the runways in all fashion capitals. With classic cuts and detailing, you’re sure to be the most dapper in the group if you choose to adopt the return to the good’ol days.
Despite the trend being forever classic, men have restricted themselves to greys, navy and black for far too long. Designers this season have thus infused pops of unexpected colours that transform a look from a classic menswear ensemble, to a show-stopping statement that somehow seems just right. Although we’ve shied away from fun pigments, we take in this myriad of colours with open arms.
